SUE SCASE

About me

I am trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and have completed further studies in Jungian and post-Jungian therapy at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies, University of Essex.

I am a member of The British Psychological Society, The International Association of Jungian Studies, and am an accredited member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have been practising as an independent mental health practitioner for over fifteen years. As well as private practice, I have experience of both primary care and the voluntary sector having worked as a primary care counsellor and as a bereavement counsellor and supervisor for a bereavement charity.

What I offer

I work with individuals and couples and offer both short-term and long-term therapy. I also provide supervision.

People often contact me directly but I also receive referrals from the NHS, Occupational Health Departments and Employment Assistance Providers (EAPs).

Having worked for a bereavement charity I have a particular interest in working with grief and bereavement. Clients who have recently been bereaved are often in a state of psychic shock and some liken this to walking through a dense fog. The many conflicting feelings that are experienced are often difficult and confusing to make sense of and my aim is to provide an opportunity to talk in private in order to begin to explore these tumultuous feelings.

Whilst the first session is very much an assessment session it is important that you also feel safe and contained enough to begin to tell your story. It can take a lot of courage to consider entering therapy and at this point you will also be gauging whether or not you feel comfortable enough to return and embark on what can be a life changing experience.

My aim is to offer you a safe and contained space in order that you feel that you would like to continue working with me.

My practice

I work from home in Brettenham, near Stowmarket in a separate and self-contained consulting room as part of The Bury Practice for Counselling and Psychotherapy and in central Bury St Edmunds at The Active Business Centre. I also work as an independent practitioner and am happy to receive personal and business referrals.

Supervision

I am a BACP Registered Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist offering supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, or anyone who works as part of the helping professions. I have an MA in Jungian and Post Jungian Studies, and a Certificate in Supervision from Cambridge Supervision Training. I work as part of The Bury Practice for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and independently from my home in Brettenham near Stowmarket, and can see supervisees at either location.
